Bearing False Witness
We know the Democrat contenders are trying to use race to their advantage. It will be fascinating to see if the Clintons’ “at any cost” approach will damage the party and her standing with the base if she wins the nomination. Some think it will hurt, some think she and Bill can win back the Black vote if they continue to belittle Obama. Time will tell.
The Republicans also have their issues.
Both McCain and Huckabee are unable to run on their records, and have to make it up as they go.
It will also be interesting to see how McCain and Huckabee wear with the base over time.
And there is this:
Rich writes, “I have a hard time imagining McCain making this kind of dishonest accusation against a Democrat.” It may be a little worse than that. After all, there were people, mostly Democrats, who actually were calling for (and are still calling for) a timetable for withdrawal. I don’t believe McCain has demanded that they apologize to the troops.
