Do I Vote Straight Democrat?

If the Republican Plan is to appease Iran, I think I must.

First, David Frum:

Did the president call on the Security Council to reconsider? Did he challenge the Iranian bomb program before the world? He did not. He said nothing about it. There will be no UN action, no Security Council sanctions, nothing. Not that they necessarily would have done any good, but they are out of the game. America’s dwindling list of Iran options has dwindled further to just two: unilateral military action without any semblance of international approval to pre-empt the Iranian bomb program - or acquiescence in that program.

And I’m guessing that the option to emerge will be: acquiescence.

Second, Michael Ledeen:

Lugar is so desperately committed to the appeasement of Iran that he held hearing today in which there was not a single voice in favor of active support of the Iranian people.

Last, Michael Rubin:

I sat through a speech here in Cairo today by Gamal Mubarak, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s son and heir-apparent. When it comes to Egypt, democracy is a word that should only be used with quotation marks. While Gamal received much applause from his assembled minions for subtly belittling the idea of democracy in the Arab world, what also got applause was the demand that Egypt pursue nuclear power. It has been almost four months since Condoleezza Rice offered her incentive package to Iran. She failed. Most governments in the region doubt White House resolve. If we continue to stumble as Iran crosses the threshhold, expect “nuclear energy” to become a top issue in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

I refuse to support a Party that puts the lives of my family at a known risk — just who is laughably gullible enough to make the argument that if Iran gets nukes, they will not leverage them to their fullest by blackmailing the West?

Will the Democrats be any better?

If they can steal the National Security issue from the Republicans, they will have effectively crushed the only issue the GOP has left that holds Republicans together (they have certainly squandered fiscal responsibility).

Now, whether the Democrats are that smart is an open question.

UPDATE:

Michelle Malkin has more with the depressingly provocative post “Miranda rights for terrorists?” and coins a new political term: “Republican Surrender Caucus.”

Read “You Have the Right to Remain Silent — McCain, Miranda, and Common Article 3″ and weep (or get angry and vote the clueless bums out).
