Rule of Law and Illegal Aliens
I would love to hear from folks who disagree with the following:
“An American who commits Social Security fraud ends up going to jail. An American who fails to pay taxes for two years ends up in the federal penitentiary,” Mr. Sensenbrenner said. “An illegal alien who does this gets citizenship.”
This is my fundamental issue with illegal immigration and the movement to rationalize it.
When we say some can violate the law and benefit while others are imprisoned, we are only begging for trouble.
Are we being implicitly racist by saying our Italian and Irish ancestors could assimilate and thrive while we must spill the melting pot and encourage others to break the law to become citizens?
Without equality under the law, all is whim — one defintion of tyranny. . . .
