This is news to me: Bear concentrations around Tahoe and along the Carson Range are believed to be the second-densest in North America, behind only some salmon-rich streams in Washington state, all because the animals have such easy access to human food. And Yes, we have a bear-safe garbage container.

Full Parking Lots!

This explains the adventures of late. On Dec. 29 and Jan. 15, parking lots at Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Sierra-at-Tahoe reached full capacity. Sierra-at-Tahoe turned people around starting at 11:15 a.m., but was able to accept more guests an hour later. Heavenly Mountain Resort also experiences parking woes on holidays.
