Subway: Homeschoolers Not Allowed
Spread the word regarding this moronic policy.
The Subway sandwich corporation is holding a story-writing contest for kids. You can win athletic equipment, gift baskets, or sandwich shop cash cards. Except if you’re a homeschooled student in the “Untied (sic) States.” Perhaps they fear the homeschooled students will call attention to all their spelling errors. Looks like the Subway marketing department ought to hire a few homeschoolers to help them out.Remember when J.C. Penny was similarly stupid? UPDATE: Subway has updated the page to say "US" and not "Untied [sic] States." Probably easier to write "US" rather than learn how to spell "United." Fortunately, I do not eat at Subway on the road (but rather In-n-Out Burger), but folks who have, should think about making Subway pay in the only way they understand -- by driving on by. . . .

Another thought…Subway is trying to do something good, by offering a competition to students and giving an awesome prize to the school…$5000 in equipment, that is awesome! Many homeschoolers may not feel that it is fair to exclude us, but at least we know now. They could have simply thrown our children’s stories into the trash, not said anything and we would not have known.
Maybe instead of bashing Subway, for not allowing homeschoolers to participate, as Christians we should be supporting a company that is willfully giving money away-in the form of a contest that will force children to think outside the box! It may not benefit our children, but they are still helping children. That is a wonderful thing that the company is doing!
It would have been wonderful if Subway would have allowed homeschoolers to participate and allowed the homeschoolers to designate a school to receive the Grand Prize, when the homeschooler won. A school would still benefit and homeschoolers could participate.
On the flip side, Subway is a company that is entitled to do what they want, with their money. If someone does not agree with the rules, they can simply choose to not participate.
Before bashing/banning Subway or signing the petition going around, ask yourself…WWJD?

Writing a marketing essay in this day and age is now considered a means “that will force children to think outside the box”?
I do not understand that thinking in the least.
Certainly, Subway can do what they want. They have also said all Americans are fat previously:
And while Subway can engage in all sorts of silliness, I can choose not to participate — in two ways: Not enter any writing contest and not buy their product.
What Would Jesus Do?
Shake the Subway dust off his feet?
I choose not to reward any company that discriminates against homeschoolers.
You are certainly free to reward them, or simply to eat their food.
I do pray that I glorify Him in what I think, say and do every day.
And I would argue that includes not breaking fellowship over the silly discrimination of a silly corporation.

Hey shame on Subway. Everyone knows that Jesus Loves Homeschoolers Best. Heck they can spell.

Cute, but not Biblical. Don’t quit your day job.
Subway did raise the white flag Wednesday and admit that their capricious discrimination was silly.
