Michigan Loves Mitt!

Mitt wins his first Gold! CNN Calls It For Mitt! 7 PM PT (51% Precincts Reporting): • Romney 39% • McCain 30% • Huckabee 16% 6 PM PT (9% Precincts Reporting): • Romney 37% • McCain 31% • Huckabee 16% UPDATE: Mark Levin: We Have a Frontrunner Nancy French at Evangelicals for Mitt: They Don't Call It the Mitt-en State for Nothing Michelle Malkin: "I’m switching over to the Dem debate..." Hugh Hewitt: Romney Wins Easily
John McCain lost a sizeable lead in Michigan lead and with it the MSM momentum. . . . And Mitt Romney has now re-established himself as the candidate to beat over the very long campaign. The key? As Rush said this morning: A McCain or Huckabee nomination would be a disaster for the GOP because they are not Reagan conservatives. Republicans are now voting in large numbers, and they are voting for the Reagan conservative. There is no reason to believe that John McCain will be able to recapture his New Hampshire moment or Huck his Iowa surprise.
Mark Steyn: Mitt's Win in Michigan
Huck seems very two weeks ago now. It's obvious he has a base, but he can't build on it. McCain's loss is bad, too: He needed a win not just for poll momentum but for cash-raising. As for Fred, I'd love it if he won South Carolina and he's been great in the last couple of debates, and is brilliantly well-informed in the more leisurely interviews, but he could use a couple of big campaign themes, and even a slogan.
Charles Mitchell at Evangelicals for Mitt: Governor Romney Has Won
In the most representative state that has voted.
Rich Lowry: Mitt's Comeback
This has proved that Mitt doesn't have a "glass jaw," and the political adversity has provided the opportunity for him to find a theme—fighting for the American economy and for jobs.
John Mark Reynolds: Michigan’s Meaning: No Front Runner, but Only One National Republican Bryan at Hot Air:
Am I the only one breathing a sigh of relief that the front-runner coming out of Michigan isn’t McCain or Huckabee? [Ed: No!]
Dan Riehl: Wow, Mitt!
Romney may prove the most sell-able Republican if the economy is the main issue in 08. But watching him lead response cheers is like watching a white man dance! [Ed: There you go making fun of those Russian ballet dancers again]
Governor Mitt Romney:
It's a victory of optimism over Washington-style pessimism. The people of Michigan said they believe in someone who is going to fight for them.
