London: Is This The Best They Can Do?

Bull Moose suggests we Fly the Union Jack with Old Glory today. More from Kathryn Lopez and National Review Online's The Corner where one "Cool, Calm Londoner" writes:
The overwhelming feeling round our office is "Is this best they can do?" - it looks and sounds much worse on 24hr news channels than in person.
Warren Bell remembers:
Kathryn, your London e-mailer reminded me of the words of Churchill in 1941: "We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools and we will finish the job."
Check out Michelle Malkin and just keep scrolling. Michelle asks "The 7/7 Attacks: Who Did It?"

Der Spiegel reports:

A letter posted on a Web site frequently used by al-Qaida claims that the "Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe" is responsible for today's massive terrorist attack in London. In it, the group also issues warnings to Denmark and Italy.

UPDATE: "Terror Doesn't Work".
I am quietly proud of my adopted city today. Proud of the emergency services in particular, and of the people in general. . . . I am expecting a long walk to work tomorrow if the Tube is not back online. The exercise will do me good.
UPDATE II: Hugh Hewitt round-up. Troublesome observations from Wretchard at the Belmont Club:
These coordinated attacks are, technically speaking, at far higher level of sophistication than the Madrid attacks of 3/11 which involved a single train. The attack on London was a "time on target" attack which required simultaneity so that one incident did not compromise the subsequent. By implication the personnel involved received some degree of training and planned the operation in sufficient secrecy to prevent British security services from getting wind of it. The six attacks probably mean that a minimum of forty persons were involved, if those in support roles are included. The attackers must have an egress plan or access to safe houses where they can weather the inevitable crackdown.
UPDATE III: La Shawn Barber round-up. Note her Update II as well:
The cowards in dirty nightshirts say they’ve killed Egypt’s Iraq envoy, whom they kidnapped a few days ago.
We're at War, folks. Why do some, like "Gaseous Galloway" live in denial? UPDATE IV: More from Michelle Malkin and "The 7/7 Attacks: Looking Homeward". Following Wretchard's observations noted above, what sleeper cells exist here in America today? Mass transit and Amtrak have also heightened security. Vigilance. UPDATE V: Don't miss Chrenkoff and InstaPundit.
